Profile: My name is Rachel Kelel and I am a loan processor at ELGA Credit Union. I've worked in the financial industry for a little over 3 years now and teach the budget workshops at ELGA. With the budget workshop, I’m happy I’m able to reach even a couple people each month. When they first asked me to write this my first thought was “I’m not a writer” and I’ve never considered myself the type of person to write books or articles or anything of that nature. I do however, have a lot of information and tricks on how to save you money and not get in a situation you can’t get out of. In high school nobody ever really tells you how to balance a checkbook, make a budget, or even about your credit score. Luckily, my mother was very involved in my financial life and taught me how to do these so I was able to buy a house at 21. This article is to help those that are not lucky enough to have someone to walk them through these steps, or that maybe just need a little help. With the economy the way it is, we are all just trying to find ways to cut costs wherever we can and save a little money. I hope I am able to help even just a few people with these articles!
